Flexible Partial

A flexible partial denture (also called a flexible removable partial denture, or RPD) is a gum-colored, semi-flexible prosthesis that replaces one or more missing teeth using a thermoplastic resin base (most commonly nylon-based or polyolefin-based) instead of rigid acrylic or metal. It clasps onto remaining natural teeth with invisible, flexible clasps (no metal hooks), making it one of the most aesthetic and comfortable partial denture options.

Additional information

Product Name
Advantage Why It Matters
1. Superior Aesthetics No metal clasps → ideal for front teeth or smile-zone gaps. Clasps are tooth-colored or gum-colored.
2. Comfort & Fit Thin, lightweight, flexes with gums → less irritation, fewer sore spots.
3. Biocompatible Monolithic nylon → no acrylic monomer (great for acrylic allergy patients).
4. Shock-Absorbing Flexes slightly → protects abutment teeth from heavy bite forces.
5. Easy to Adjust/Repair Can be relined, rebased, or teeth added in-office with heat.
6. Durable & Stain-Resistant High fracture resistance; modern resins (e.g., TCS iFlex) resist staining better than older Valplast.
7. Conservative Minimal tooth prep (sometimes none — just undercuts for retention).
